Q: What does ACTA stand for and why?
A: ACTA stands for Actor for Cinema, Television and Advertising. It would have been called actor for film, TV and commercials but AFTC wasn't a catchy name and the t-shirts will look great with "I'm an ACTA" on them.

imgQ: What makes ACTA School different from traditional drama schools?
A: When people say they want to be an actor nowadays they usually mean they want to be on TV or in a film. Drama schools typically teach dance, singing and stage acting. ACTA School's teaching techniques are designed specifically to teach students how to act for the camera whether it is for a film, TV or commercial and very importantly how to get the job. Each week students will be filmed acting out authentic Hollywood scripts, see their work played back in class and students will be able to watch the results online via our website in a secure, password protected, on-screen environment.

Q: What is the foundation of ACTA School's teaching?
A: ACTA School's founder, Nick Meaney, spent over 15 years working and studying in the film capital of the world, Los Angeles. He is a classically trained actor who graduated from the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts and won the Philip Loeb Award for Acting 2 years consecutively. Nick continued studying with a number of Hollywood's foremost acting coaches including Stan Roth who also taught the same techniques that ACTA uses to Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire. Nick's experience also draws from hundreds of workshops with Hollywood's top casting directors, producers and directors. View Nick Meaney's CV and demo reel.

Q: What techniques will be used?
A: Rather than adhering to one particular philosophy or method, ACTA uses a combination of proven classical and modern techniques in a no-nonsense practical approach. These have been designed to develop each individual student's ability so they can implement reliable, consistent techniques applicable in any acting or audition situation.

imgQ: How long do I have to join for?
A: Class sizes are very limited and a 10 week commitment is required. If a place is available and dependent on the individuals experience, a student may join at any time and will be pro-rated based on a 10 week commitment. Thereafter, fees are payable every 10 weeks in advance. Classes are on going and not by term.

Q: Can I join at anytime and will I be behind other students?
A: Yes, you can join at anytime, if a place is available. Classes operate on an on going basis rather than by a term. Other students may be at different levels however this will not prevent a new student from joining and feeling comfortable. This is because each student's experience, objective and ability are taken into consideration and class work is assigned and varied accordingly.  In real life, award winning actors work with less experienced actors all the time. There are very few actors in the world that will say they have nothing more to learn. Therefore, each student will progress on an individual basis.

Q: What do I need to wear?
A: There are no dress requirements and students should feel comfortable.
